Human Computer Interaction

Posted by Kiran Mova on September 7, 2007

“Human-computer interaction is a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them.”

It feels like I have found my parent. There are just too many terms floating around like – usability, user experience, interaction design, information architect, etc., Not only have I found it hard to differentiate the exact job description of these roles, but I have found it very difficult to decide where I belong in these roles.

As it turns out, I design and develop user interface and to do it effectively I apply the principles from human psychology, cognitive science, computer science, visualization.

Now, all those titles form a subset of Human Computer Interaction and as I explore more (now that I have the field categorized), I can figure out my specialization.
